UTS INVITES INTERNATIONAL FEDERATION ITOS FOR THE FIRST TECHNICAL WEBINAR

“Individual commitment to a group effort-that is what makes a team work, a company work, a society work, a civilization work.” -Vince Lombardi

The UTS Virtual Youth Festival 2020 aims to unite all participating sports, whose youth will be competing against one another during the November 20-22nd Festival Finals. Youth participants will be judged by other sports regardless to whether they are Olympic or non-Olympic, Summer or Winter sports.

On the 25th September UTS hosted the first of three technical webinars which welcomed over 60 International Sport Federations.

UTS President Stephan Fox opened the webinar giving a warm welcome and thanking all sports and organisations for inviting delegates from the highest level on a voluntary basis and putting the youth regardless to ability or sport, at the forefront of their work.

During this pandemic more than ever, we witness the world sport community standing in solidarity for their most important asset, the youth.

President Fox gave thanks to the International Olympic Committee (IOC), the Paralympic Committee (IPC), the Special Olympics (SOI), GAISF and SportAccord for their ongoing support. He gave a special thanks to the AIMS family and AIMS Council for their dedicated support.

Mr Fox then thanked all sports for contributing their time and effort towards the foundations of the competitions, in particular: Abby Nelson, Günter Plank and Jens Wilke who led the webinar session.

The discussion focused on all technical requirements towards three of the five Festival competition categories: MAX FIT,AERO FIT and the Talent Competition. A Q&A session ensured all questions were addressed and answered.

The Rsportz team led by CEO Robin Kent made a presentation regarding the details and usage of the platform. The team outlined data policy information to ensure utmost protection of the youth towards the festival, particularly in regards to the unique virtual context of the festival. Rsportz CEO Robin Kent stated “Rsportz are involved in the festival finals stage of the event, where youth will be registered to the platform. We will collect data from the youth and so it is critical we protect this data. We are totally GDPR compliant and data for each region remains in their region. Membership forms and parental consent forms are required and only data with strict prior approval will be shared.”

The next step is preparing an ITO Working Group towards the next ITO meeting and where representatives will be invited from the IPC and SOI.

UTS President Fox closed the webinar and stated “We would like to thank everyone who contributed today, we have a unique opportunity to work in solidarity at the service of our youth. Let us work to promote the Olympic, Paralympic and Special Olympics values ensuring all youth are included in this event.”
