S.W.E.E.P INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE

Sport is one of the most powerful platforms for promoting gender equality and empowering women and girls.

Sport for women’s empowerment & employment program (S.W.E.E.P.) was founded as an organisation in 2014. S.W.E.E.P. carries out its advocacy mission to educate teachers, coaches, and sports professionals in the unique aspects of involving women and girls in sports, which now includes adaptive sports. However, these efforts will NOT be sustainable if other components of the empowerment ecosystem do not play their part.

Renowned women sport leaders, doctors, coaches, and entrepreneurs came together to conclude the international women’s month during the Philippines’ first online international sports conference for S.W.E.E.P., or Sport for Women’s Empowerment and Employment Program, held on March 24 to 26, 2021. The 3-day conference had 6 program pathways to pursue opportunities in research, education, and careers after sport including: Women Who Win, Sport for Community, Sports and fairness in the Digital Space, Sport Coached Bootcamp, Strategy and Policy application for Women in Sports and Sport Careers and Entrepreneurship.

The event was under the patronage of UTS as well as GAISF and AIMS,  bringing renowned female sport leaders, coaches, academics and so many experts representing over 40 organisations. IOC Executive board member Mikee Cojuangco-Jaworski was also present to share her wisdom and UTS had the honour of her support during the recent UTS World Virtual Youth Festival 2020 Education Program.

UTS encourages and supports all actions, initiatives and dialogue towards gender equality not only in sport but beyond. We ensure that all of our events, initiatives and endeavours take into consideration and ensure there is an equal representation and participation of women and girls. By supporting other organisations, communities and countries by sharing our solutions and best practises, we can encourage the empowerment of women around the world.

A special thank you from the UTS Family to Ms.Geraldine Go-Bernardo, Founder of Sport Management Council Philippines.
