We all remember the 2018 Summer Youth Olympics in Buenos Aires where our late SportAccord/GAISF President, IOC member, Secretary General of the International Basketball Federation and above all, a true visionary and friend of sport, left us far to early.
We now witness the amazing 3×3 Basketball competition at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games and we all know, “This was Patrick’s Baby,” something he was so passionate about for the athletes, for the excitement, for the urban world and as a sport for all.
Patrick’s spirit lives on proudly in the world of Basketball and FIBA. Today in the name of friendship, we remember Patrick’s words, “3×3 from the streets to the Olympics.”
Our UTS Sports Festival in 2018 held in Bangkok, Thailand saw Patrick take to the field of play with refugee and migrant youths to play sport and have fun. The power of sport to give back stands stronger now than ever before.
Patrick, thank you for all you have done and for your legacy.
Congratulations to all the athletes who are part of this historical Olympic event and may you all triumph in your own personal victories.
